The SHI series caliper brakes are spring-applied, hydraulically-released brakes specifically designed for low-speed, high-torque emergency stop and holding applications. The standard SHI design features two independent brake calipers, each with its own spring package and hydraulic cylinder. The hydraulic cavity is machined blind into the brake housing, eliminating any potential oil leakage path to the friction surfaces that could compromise braking performance.

Brake spring force is transferred to the linings via four large pressure pins, distributing clamping force evenly across the brake pad for consistent, reliable braking. Large parallel keyways transfer the braking torque from the brake shoe to the housing and mounting console, eliminating side loading on the pistons and seals. This design significantly reduces internal wear and maintenance requirements.

Available in clamping forces from 17.6 kN to 555 kN.

SHI brakes can be supplied in standard dual-caliper or floating caliper (mono-spring) configurations, with options for stainless steel pistons and enhanced corrosion protection for outdoor or highly corrosive environments.
